Garden Update

We've been having a great time with our garden. Daniel and our friend Chris built a composter (photo included). Pretty cool stuff! We're growing all kinds of goodies. We are really excited. So far, no major setbacks (besides the dogs - notice the fence?). We still have room to plant some more stuff... any suggestions???

We love our pets

Shanka, Toby and Tula are quite the bunch. They really do love each other, as evidenced by the photos! (Just a side note on the boxes. We've watched them destroy the beds we purchased for them, so why not let them destroy something we got for free instead? Works for me.)

"5 Whole Years" - the song...

5 Year Anniversary

The 23rd of March was our 5 year anniversary! Pretty crazy, huh! Time really has flown by. So I tried to think of something creative to do for Daniel. I came up with this song. It's a little corny, but cute ;) Included are the pictures of "The Making of the Song" as well as a little video of me singing it. (Daniel is quite the camera guy!) Hope you all enjoy. It was a really fun night, I might add. When I came home from work, my kitchen was full of flowers (the ones I can plant!!!) and a ton of herbs and other goodies for our garden. He also surprised me with a new tree - Apricot! (Wood is the traditional gift for 5 years and he was super creative to think of giving me a tree!We went to dinner later that evening at a Carraba's. The waiter was really cool and surprised us with a delicious dessert (double chocolate brownies, with whipped cream and chocolate sauce!) What a lovely night. We'll continue to celebrate throughout the week - just because we can...

The Garden

Well this has been an adventurous week. This garden project was actually a Valentine's Gift from Daniel to me. Instead of giving me roses or flowers, he's given me a place to plant and grow some! It began with a trip to Home Depot. When I got home from work, Daniel had already started cutting the wood to the right size. We had decided on four plots to give us lots of space to grow some yummy edible green things. He worked so hard, and I was busy with homework and some of my own projects that he basically completed the project on his own. He purchased about 12 bags of soil from Home Depot. However, after looking at Craigslist, he found someone giving out free Horse Poop! Woo Hoo!!! That meant that about 8 bags went back to Home Depot and some money went back into our pockets. On Saturday, his dad came over and helped for a few hours. Our friend Chris Brinkerhoff (who had lent us the truck to pick up the poop) came over as well with another wheelbarrow. What a guy! About 7:00 pm, Daniel and I finished up the final touches (except for the watering system). He was so excited. After I walked inside, I heard him holler, "Yes! I did it!" He was really proud! And I must say that I am too. Thank you sweetie for an awesome Valentine's Gift. Now we just have to figure out how to keep the dogs from eating and playing in the poop... hmmm.... eewww!!!!

Daniel's Birthday

Well, it's been a while and I have had some trouble with our new camera getting images uploaded. So this post is really late! Daniel's Birthday was in December, and it's already February! For his birthday I tried to have a surprise for him. I wanted to have a nice dinner at home and go out dancing with him with some of our friends - the Andersons.

Then on Saturday, I'd planned a surprise party with friends. Unfortunately - I sent an email to my parents explaining the fun surprises and instead of using my personal email, I used our joint email account. My parents sent something back, Daniel read it and you can probably figure out the rest! He was having such a hard time not telling me that he knew EVERY DETAIL!!! Man that guy is hard to surprise! His brother took him out to see a movie and was supposed to have him back at the house by 7:30. Daniel, however, drug it out and didn't come home until much later. The little stinker. Poor Gabriel didn't know how to get Daniel to leave the mall without giving it away. It was a fun night, though, with lots of friends and family to celebrate the life of a wonderful man! (At least I think so!)
